The Peranakan’s (who are also known as the Babas and Nyonyas) are descendants of Chinese immigrants who came to Malaysia, and the local Malays. The union of these two cultures produced a distinct, unique culture of its own which includes their language, customs, cuisine and fashion. The Penang Peranakan museum offers visitors a glimpse into their lives, and especially their customs and traditions. What’s more, you will also be treated to a display of over 1,000 pieces of priced antiques and collectibles of the era.
