This year, George Town celebrates the ninth anniversary of its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (together with Malacca) with an exciting line-up of programmes and activities for locals and tourists alike. These events have been specially curated to cultivate an appreciation for the city’s famous cultural and living heritage among people from all walks of life, so that it is well preserved for future generations.

Event: Site Excursion | Discover Our Oral Traditions
Date: 7-9 July 2017 (Friday – Sunday)
Venue: George Town World Heritage Site
Come join in the fun and “Walk the Talk” as you explore and experience the rich culture and heritage of the city of George Town. Event: Open Air Exhibition
Date: until 15 July 2017
Venue: Armenian Park
The Open Air Exhibition takes you back to the good ol’ yesteryears in George Town. There will also be a special showcase featuring a range of traditional local performances, such as boria, carnatic music, dikir barat and kathakali, from 5.30pm – 7.00pm on 8 July (Saturday). Event: Interactive Heritage Game: The Forgotten Memoirs
Time: 8.30am – 12.30pm
Date: 9 July 2017 (Sunday)
Venue: George Town World Heritage Site
Embark on a fun-filled adventure as you and the members of your team discover the secrets of George Town in this engaging game.
