15 Nov FREEDOM OF SPEECH: GEORGE TOWN LITERARY FESTIVAL

In a world ruled by politicians, we are reminded of the time when immortals, the gods, ruled. Folklores pervaded our discernment of the earth and the universe where human beings remain fallible, and the gods? Immortal.
Monsters were the ultimate reason the gods battled, against fearsome beasts who ransomed all manner of eradication. But. There were also men who evolved into demons, disdaining all that was good and all that was human.
’Monsters & (Im)Mortals’ fixates at light and dark; of sagacity and insanity, reality and fantasy, the element of the shadow in literature and of eternal tragedy.
The long-awaited event, one of Penang’s most exciting event, the George Town Literary Festival (GTLF), is finally taking place this 24th to 26th of November 2017. The effort of upholding this appearance being subsidised by the State Government has become the most paramount international literary festival in Malaysia.
Held annually in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Georgetown, GTLF is one of the last advocates for free speech in Malaysia and, too, obtains a specific emphasis on global literature. Inviting writers, poets and performers worldwide to immerse in mind-stimulating topics and themes compelling to our inhabitance.
The GTLF reckons in the power of autonomy and expression, dedicating in being one of the most dynamic, cardinal and provocative literary festivals in the country.
Let us support this movement towards farther wisdom and unceasing liberty.
